What a lovely morning...from our guest bedroom window at Phil and Grace's house...a perfectly clear day as we prepare to worship at their French speaking church.
All 4 of the Gubitz team understood the sermon, were blessed by Romans 14 on what to do with Christian Liberty...and why...and we got to meet many of Danny's church friends. It was a glorious morning. Being Father's Day, and after planning for months on what I would enjoy doing with them, they said, hey dad..."what you want do today???". I said drive up into the mountains to see the exact route the Tour de France cyclists will be taking to climb up the Alpe d' Huez. They said, "Exactly what we planned:)"
At an average gradient of 8 degrees over the 13 km route, with 21 hairpin turns each named for one of the folks that won the stage..we finally arrived at the final line..and Jim, there were 50 year old guys completing this for a birthday present for one of their buddies....What do you say we do this for our 60th???
The views were spectacular from atop the mountain, and we decided to climb Chamrousse as well, where Jean-Claude Keily won the downhill in the 68 Olympics...what a great Father's Day..with my other "adult" kids also wishing me Facebook joys...I also sent my dad an email since he is amazing and a great blessing to me and my family...as is my awesome mom!!! The day ended with a pizza in Grenoble as my boys spent most of the evening praising my driving skills...ummm.maybe not...
Remember that every good and perfect gift comes down from THE Father of Lights..our Heavenly Father...and remember to give Him thanks today and every day...Thank you Lord for my splendid family!!!
Tomorrow we climb the Dent de Crolles:)))
Maybe the sons are realizing how far short they fall of their Dad's outstanding skills, coordination, and courage.
