We decided to take a slow, vacation and anniversary speed departure by putting our car on the ferry and heading toward Bellagio:
We enjoyed first looking back at the small church, San Martino, on the side of the hill we climbed to on the first day,
and then the longer hike to the cross at the top of the peak you can see on the top of this photo
But you know it wasn't long before we looked forward and Peggy started using all of her Italian 101;
The drive to Zibello, through the sunflower fields was beautiful (we didn't take a single autostrada:)
When we arrived at Zibello...the home of Culatello (which is the "filet mignon" of prosciutto)...as we did last year, we watched Il Paillo on tv....a major horse race that has a dozen or so horses run 4 times around a ridiculously tight infield of a track, and by the end of this race, 5 riders had fallen off...which is actually ok...since just the horse has to cross first.
And since it was culatello heaven, our first course was:
You have to have it with butter, and some really dry bread...and this year we also were treated to fresh figs...that added a spectacular taste to the mix;
Two classic pastas from Miriam...the 5th generation ...and we were definitely enjoying our anniversary
Being in love for 34 years is a special gift from God...and we rejoice in what He has, is and will do in our marriage. To God be ALL the Glory!!!
Blessings to all of you and your loved ones....Ciao...
